The Challenge

In large EPC LNG supply chains, a single clad pipe can involve weeks of inspection across production, QC and client teams. Even small inconsistencies between the physical pipe markings, NDT results and documentation can stall final inspection or shipment acceptance.

Scope & Approach

Clad pipe 811/007 — inspection & expediting

At the manufacturing facility in Germany we monitored inspection and expediting activities for Clad Pipe 811/007, part of a Middle Eastern onshore LNG slug catcher project, where CRA cladding (Alloy 625 / UNS N06625) is applied over a carbon-steel base.

Radiographic review & repair verification

Radiographic film review of the longitudinal weld measured indications from 1.23 mm to 2.06 mm. Repair areas were identified and verified against NDT findings, with additional MUT and MPI to confirm repair quality, and a detailed defect map developed in alignment with the pipe sketch.

Traceability & documentation

Repair zones were physically marked with dimensional references for full traceability, and documentation was continuously reviewed under EN 10204 3.2 to ensure accuracy in the Manufacturing Data Book (MDB) — keeping the physical pipe, NDT results and paperwork perfectly aligned.

The Outcome

Perfect alignment between physical markings, NDT results and documentation was achieved; through coordination between production, QC, inspectors and client representatives the pipe progressed to final release. Expediting here was technical risk management across the supply chain — not just schedule monitoring.
