Industrial Oil-Purifier Factory Acceptance Testing — Italy
PSPP provided independent third-party inspection and Factory Acceptance Test witnessing for a skid-mounted industrial oil-purifier package at a manufacturing facility in Italy. The assignment covered visual inspection, equipment verification, functional testing, completeness review, and inspection of packing and identification requirements.

- 1
- Skid-mounted industrial oil-purifier system inspected
- 1 day
- Factory inspection and FAT duration
- 1
- Complete automatic purification and discharge cycle demonstrated
- 3
- Minor pre-shipment items recorded for closure
The Challenge
The packaged system combined a high-speed centrifuge, pumps, piping, instrumentation, electrical controls, alarms, and automatic operating sequences. The inspection therefore required coordinated verification of mechanical assembly, process performance, control logic, safety interlocks, and supporting documentation before shipment readiness could be confirmed.
Scope & Approach
PSPP reviewed the approved purchase and technical documentation, general arrangement information, process and instrumentation documentation, electrical records, and the manufacturer's FAT procedure. The assembled skid, piping, instrumentation, control panel, and equipment identification were visually checked, and completeness was verified against the approved scope of supply. During FAT witnessing, the centrifuge was started and operated through its automatic cycle. The inspection included verification of operating speed, liquid feeding, oil-and-water separation, discharge operation, automatic bowl opening and closing, sequence restart, feeding-pump control, dry-run protection, sludge-pump operation, alarm simulations, control functions, and safety interlocks.
The Outcome
The witnessed FAT demonstrated satisfactory automatic operation and effective oil-and-water separation in accordance with the approved test procedure. The equipment completed the planned functional sequence successfully. Minor pre-shipment actions involving replacement of temporary valves, installation of equipment nameplates, and completion of the final documentation package were recorded for closure by the manufacturer.
