The Challenge
The assignment required confirmation that the instruments, associated documentation and packing records were consistent with the approved project requirements before shipment. During the initial document review, a discrepancy was identified between the equipment references stated in the inspection notification and the instruments presented by the manufacturer.
Scope & Approach
PSPP carried out an independent inspection and Factory Acceptance Test witnessing assignment covering four radar level transmitters. The work included review of the applicable inspection and test plan, equipment documentation, general arrangement information, calibration certificates, packing records and inspection notification documents. The inspection included verification of equipment configuration, review of relevant test and calibration records, witnessing of functional and final inspection activities, and confirmation that the instruments corresponded with the approved project documentation. A document-control discrepancy concerning the equipment references was identified during the preliminary review and clarified with the manufacturer before completion of the inspection.
The Outcome
The required inspection and test activities were completed satisfactorily in accordance with the approved inspection plan and available project requirements. No technical nonconformities were identified during the witnessed activities. Four radar level transmitters were considered acceptable for shipment, subject to completion of the required administrative documentation.
